Personal:

I am married with 2 children. I am an elementary school teacher, but I stay home with my kids right now. I have always been an "on and off" runner. The last major running I did was in 2006 when I trained for the Salt Lake City 1/2 marathon. I was heavy when I ran it and even though I trained, it really did me in. I have since lost 30 lbs. and feel so much better, so I am wanting to try a whole Marathon in the near future.

Today was a great day. I met 4 great new running pals! A huge thank you goes out to (I hope I'm getting all of your names right) Marion, Kelli, Leslie, and Morene (or do you spell it Maureen?). Thank you for letting me tag along with all of you today. It was so fun to find some new friends and find out about this fun running blog. I was bummed to have to do the breast cancer walk all by myself, but in the end I met some great gals. Now, I know some of you I jogged with today are super duper runners!...but 4 miles was huge for me today. I have been trying to get the umph back to get back into running and maybe this was the nudge I needed.  After I did the 1/2 marathon 2 1/2 yrs. ago, it was so hard on my body (because I was too overweight) that I completely lost interest in running after that. I really want to get back to it. I hope I can keep it up. Thanks again girls...I really had fun!

Yeah! You did it! :) Welcome to the blog!! :D

You did great today! Nobody would have ever guessed that you don't run all the time :)

The main key to training is to run 6 days a week. If you are not quite there, work on it. Remember- no injuries, so slow and steady wins the race :D BE sure to checkout other blogs and feel free to leave comments. If you go to my blog, there are links to a lot of runner blogs that I like to read.

Welcome, Lynn! It was good to meet with you today and run with you. Hope we can meet up some more.

I actually spell my name Maurine - but Leslie thinks my name is Marion. Go figure.

Happy Trails!

OK...I'm bummed I didn't stick around for chocolate! I had to bail right away to get my son to hockey.

You've got to have priorities! Chocolate or you son? It's a toughy :)

I have a horrible head cold and I can hardly breathe. I'm not attempting running today. I'll be happy if I can get a walk in. Boo Hoo

Thank you! I have been taking vitamin C for the past few days (more than usual) because I could feel this coming on. I am even trying Zicam this time...I have balked at my husband everytime he uses it...he swears by it. Hopefully it will at the very least, help me get over this quick!

From tarzan on Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 11:03:07

Sorry to hear you are sick. I find using Vitamin C, Zinc and echinacea help me get better sooner.
